Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Pinellas County
The purpose of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Pinellas County (RSVP) is to create meaningful opportunities for persons 55 years of age and above to participate more fully in the life of their community through volunteer service. RSVP has partnered with Empath Health to recruit volunteers who are 55+ for the specific opportunities listed below.
About Suncoast PACE
Suncoast PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) is a member of Empath Health, a nonprofit integrated network of care supporting those challenged by chronic and advanced illness in the Tampa Bay region. We aim to fully support and care for seniors facing chronic illnesses and aging. Our team helps our participants achieve a healthy quality of life, stay active and socially connected and live safely and independently at home. Additionally, we provide education, guidance and relief to loved ones.
Our current services provided in Pinellas County include primary care, therapies, skilled care, social and emotional support and day care at our Suncoast PACE Day Center and Medical Clinic; in-home care and support; and transportation to and from Suncoast PACE or other PACE-approved specialists. We continue to grow each year and eventually plan to expand into Hillsborough County.
Volunteering at Suncoast PACE
It is preferred that a volunteer visit at least once a week, every two weeks, or monthly, or as often as they can depending on where and how they volunteer. For the PACE ADC (Adult Day Center), any of these frequencies will work. To volunteer at the PACE ADC, a volunteer must complete an Empath Health Volunteer Orientation (four hours), PACE Orientation (1.5 - 2 hours), have a level two background check (Empath Health will pay for), and have two initial TB skin tests (Empath Heath will provide).
Participants come into the ADC for activities, doctor appoints, assessments, etc.. Volunteering at the ADC is limited to the volunteer’s imagination and what skills and talents they want to share.
PACE also has PACE Home volunteer positions. The PACE Home volunteers complete the Volunteer Orientation, Patient and Family Support Training (12 hours - see ), PACE Orientation, two initial Tb skin tests (Empath Health provides), and a level background screening (Empath Health provides). The PACE Home volunteers visit participants in their home for socialization, take shopping or to run errands, sit respite so the caregiver can go to the doctor, run errands, or just get out, help with participant birthday parties, etc. PACE has a great need for volunteers in the ADC and especially as PACE Home volunteers.
We'll work with your schedule.
