Help With Community Awareness and Advocacy

Are you looking to learn more about the importance of affordable housing in your community? Do you have experience in finance or board service - or are you looking to gain leadership/board experience? Consider joining a CommonBond Community Advisory Board.

Community Advisory Board members help to advance the goal of creating and sustaining homes for all. Board meetings are a unique opportunity to connect with CommonBond staff, residents, and other community members to learn firsthand about the successes and challenges our housing communities are facing.

As a board member you will review the financial audit for a housing community and attend one (60-90 minute) annual meeting. Financial literacy is helpful, but anyone with an interest in board service or affordable housing is encouraged to apply. The enrollment process consists of an application and brief phone interview.

CommonBond Communities believes that home is the foundation for everything in life. Access to affordable housing is the most fundamental indicator of long-term success. And more importantly, lack of access to a home can be overwhelming and isolating. That is why our mission begins with providing affordable, stable homes. When someone has an affordable place to live, children do better in schools, adults are more productive in their work, and families are able to contribute to their community.

Mission Statement

CommonBond's mission is to build stable homes, strong futures, and vibrant communities. A safe, stable, and affordable home is the foundation for everything in life. It’s the place where each person can find what they need to meet their goals and build their best life. In other words, a CommonBond community. CommonBond is an affordable housing nonprofit organization that creates communities throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and South Dakota to help people of all ages and walks of life meet their goals and thrive. With five decades of working with vulnerable populations as an affordable housing organization, we know that when people have stability in their homes, children do better in school, teens graduate, adults find jobs with wages to support their families, and older adults maintain their independence.

Description

We believe home is the foundation for everything in life. For over 50 years, CommonBond has provided affordable, stable homes for families, veterans, and seniors. Not only do we connect residents with housing that will help them thrive, but we offer wraparound services that help folks define and achieve their own success. Programming is available to all CommonBond residents and is tied to four strategic priorities: Stability & Independence, Health and Wellness, Education & Advancement, and Community Building & Engagement. We know that through these focus areas, we’re able to support residents in finding solutions that matter. Our Advantage Services and Property Management teams work together to pro-actively support residents in a multitude of areas, such as subsidized housing, Section 8 vouchers, mentor programs for students, job training, career development, veterans programs, and much, much more.
