CommonBond's mission is to build stable homes, strong futures, and vibrant communities.
We believe a home is the foundation for everything in life. Our integrated approach - housing with supportive services - changes lives and strengthens families and communities. Each year, CommonBond provides affordable housing and services to help more than 12,000 people with low and moderate incomes achieve their goals for stability, advancement, and independence. Approximately 2,800 of these residents are children. CommonBond develops and operates urban, suburban and rural housing communities across 50+ cities in Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin for families, seniors, and people with disabilities and other barriers to stable housing.
I am so impressed with Common Bond's approach to strengthening and empowering families. The services they provide help families feel secure. I am part of the Study Buddies program where I can offer my time to help someone become a better reader and a better student. Common Bond provides a lesson plan and I offer my time. Now I have a bond with a student and we have discovered that we have lots in common: laughing, drawing, and reading to name a few!
Commonbond is a great organization for helping people holistically. I personally volunteer in the homework center, which is an after school program to make sure students are getting their school work done and give extra help in subjects like reading and math. This is my second year volunteering and I come back because it is convenient and rewarding. Volunteering in my busy schedule is easy, because the commitment can be as low as my one and a half hours a week.

CommonBond Communities is a great place to volunteer and impact a student's life. The staff at the towers are friendly and love to see the residents succeed. There are many volunteer opportunities here; study buddies, adult and senior ed, summer fun programs, etc.
