Do you have a few hours to spend helping us develop virtual programs for young mothers and their babies? The mission of Friends of NYC Nurse-Family Partnership is to improve the lives of babies and their mothers by providing enhanced benefits for the nationally renowned Nurse-Family Partnership. NFP sends registered nurses to make regular visits to first-time, low-income mothers, from the time the mothers are pregnant until their babies are 2. Friends of NYC NFP is developing and leading virtual LEAP (Learn, Eat, and Play) programs which help the mothers meet and socialize with other young moms while learning about nutrition, finance, making toys out of household objects and much more. Virtual events are usually 45 minutes to 1 hour long.
We need VOLUNTEERS who can help us with:
- Showing mothers the importance of interactions with their baby
- Teaching about a rich learning environment in an engaging way
- Show exercises which will allow babies to explore and learn
- Utilize early intervention knowledge to help our volunteer team develop programs for moms and babies
About FRIENDS OF NEW YORK CITY NURSE FAMILY PARTNERSHIP INC
1035 FIFTH AVE NO 10B, NEW YORK, NY 10028, US
The mission of Friends of New York City Nurse-Family Partnership is to improve the lives of babies and their mothers by providing enhanced benefits for the renowned Nurse-Family Partnership program in New York City. The core program is supported by government grants, but additional resources are needed. We work side by side with the New York City staff to bring extra assistance to their clients.
Nurse-Family Partnership is the gold standard for early childhood home-visiting. It provides registered nurses to make regular home visits to first-time, low-income mothers at the time when it makes the most difference: from before a baby's birth until age two. Friends of NYC NFP provides funds to supplement what is available for this renowned program. We raise and provide funds for the educational needs of the mothers, build awareness about the program, and support the program nurses as well. We also create and lead programs for the mothers and their babies where they can learn about such things as nutrition, finance, making toys out of household objects, and much more. These LEAP (Learn, Eat & Play) events also give the moms a chance to socialize with other mothers in the the program.
This is a Virtual Opportunity with no fixed address.
