The Franklin High School Tutoring Program is an after-school academic program for all Franklin High School students, administered through the Impact NW SUN Community School. We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers and work-study students who are willing to participate in a one-on- one and small group tutoring environment. The Tutoring program is looking for volunteers to help provide academic help in biology, earth science, geometry, AP math courses. We welcome tutors from every academic discipline, but tutors should be at least able to work with students on basic math, science, and English skills. The Tutoring Center also works with many ELL (English Language Learning), minority, refugee, differently-abled, and low income students so tutors must be adaptable and flexible in their teaching styles.
- 1-4 days per week for at least one semester (Sept 21 - June 7). Tutors will need to make at least a one-day a week commitment to the Tutoring Center.
Mon-Thurs: mostly after school hours (2-5pm)
Must pass a background check, be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate, have experience working with teenagers, be able to work with a wide range of students from different backgrounds, cultures and languages, be able to establish healthy boundaries with students and staff, and have a positive, engaging approach to providing academic support to high school students.
- Experience working in a school setting, serving with an energetic, team, and supporting and connecting with high school students.
- SUN program orientation, initial SUN staff training, and supervision and consultation as needed.
