Just imagine you are shut in, you can't get to your doctors appointment because you have no family, shuttle isn't in your area, the bus doesn't run in your area either. What do you do? Well our clients call us and because of wonderful volunteers like yourself we are able to provide them with transportation to and from their doctors appointments and to get very needed groceries. Would you be willing to give up a few hours of your day a couple times a week? If so read below:
Drive clients to the grocery store or to medical appointments. Volunteer Services provide transportation assistance to low-income disabled elders who do not qualify for assistance elsewhere or do not have family or friends available to help them. Mileage is reimbursed at $.50 1/2 per mile. Drivers are needed throughout Pierce County especially in rural areas not served by Pierce County Shuttle Services. Volunteer & clients must be fully vaccinated.
About Volunteer Chore Services, Catholic Community Services SW
1323 S. Yakima Ave, Tacoma, WA 98405, US
At Catholic Community Services we believe â ¦ â ¦ every child should grow up in a safe, loving and nurturing environment. â ¦ the elderly should be able to live with security and dignity. â ¦healthy family life should be affirmed and supported in our communities. â ¦ in compassion, love and respect for all people, especially the poor and most vulnerable. â ¦ in joining with others to change systems that oppress, discriminate or otherwise cause human suffering. â ¦ employees and volunteers should work in an environment that fosters respect, teamwork and excellence. â ¦ in all of these things for all people, whatever their color, whatever language they speak or however they worship.
Volunteer Chore serves low-income adults (anyone 18 years old or older) who have temporary or permanent functional disabilities, including those associated with aging. The people we serve canâ t afford to purchase the kinds of service we provide, donâ t qualify for assistance from other sources and donâ t have family or friends available to help them. Service is provided on an as-volunteers-are-available basis. There are never any fees for the services provided.
