Group opportunity: Host a spring themed event for Seniors

This volunteer opportunity is for groups only!

Corporate or Community Groups can sign up for this opportunity to host an event at one of our affordable housing sites located all throughout California. Build community by helping to host a party for our seniors: decorating, hosting spring themed activities and crafts, and serving food. These events are generally hosted during regular business hours, and we cannot host groups over the weekend.

Duties:

Volunteer group will help host an event geared towards our seniors. Set the tables, serve food, help seniors with craft projects, sit and talk with residents and engage with them. Clean and clear community space on site.

Skills needed:

Must have excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and a positive personality and demeanor. Able to approach and welcome all types of people.

Benefit:

Volunteer groups will have the opportunity to work closely together to problem solve, be creative and execute a fun event, spend time with new people, and help provide a fun experience to low-income seniors.

Description

Eden Housing, Inc. is a California non-profit corporation founded in 1968 by six community activists who were concerned about the lack of non-discriminatory, affordable housing in Northern California. These volunteers began by rehabilitating older homes in Hayward for first time homebuyer families. In the mid-1980s, Eden Housing incorporated an affiliated property management company, Eden Housing Management, Inc. (EHMI), which currently provides quality onsite management and maintenance for more than 9,000 affordable homes throughout California. In the mid-1990's, Eden Housing expanded its scope to include the provision of free onsite support services and programs for its residents.Our services include technology programming; "green" resident education; youth academic, enrichment and recreation programs; programs for seniors and persons with disabilities; financial literacy; job/career preparation; and health and wellness programs for all ages.

Today, Eden has a portfolio of 9,000 units at 145 properties across 15 counties in California. Eden develops new construction and acquires and rehabilitates existing properties to preserve them. During the past 53 years, over 65,000 people have come home to an Eden Housing community. At Eden Housing, we have more than 20,000 households on our waiting list and a portfolio-wide vacancy rate of 1%, demonstrating a huge demand for our work.
