Department and/or Team: Adoptions
Reports to: This position will report to the Adoptions Team Director.
Works with: Correspondence with adopters, fosters, foster representatives, and medical coordinator.
Description of Role: This volunteer will express gratitude towards our adopters while providing background information on their new pet(s). This will be accomplished through sending congratulations emails that include medical records and introductory adoption documentation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Sending out congratulations emails to all adopters within 24 hours of receiving contract from Adoption Counselor. Attached to every email will be:
- All medical records
- Introductory adoption packet
- All adoption documentation
- Looping in our Adopt Congrats mailbox on every email sent out by cc’ing adoptcongrats@dallaspetsalive.org .
Skills/Qualifications Needed:
- Regular computer access and proficiency with use of email (Gmail will be utilized).
- Must have ability to send email within 24 hours of receiving contract from Adoption Counselor.
- Ability to work virtually on a regular basis.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, constant professionalism.
- Strong sense of organization.
- Record-keeping skills.
Time Commitment: Approximately 3-5 hours per week.

OUR APPROACH
Our organization is run mostly by volunteers, and all of our pets are housed by dedicated foster families throughout North Texas.
We rescue and help the healthy and treatable pets at greatest risk for euthanasia at our partner shelters. We also provide assistance and resources to pet owners having problems so significant that they need to surrender their pets to a shelter.
In our rescue program, we focus on:
- Rescuing healthy and treatable pets at North Texas shelters at the greatest risk of being euthanized
- Reducing owner surrender through our Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender (PASS) program
- Opening kennel space by transporting pets to partners in the U.S. and Canada in need of adoptable animals
- Challenging the way our community views rescue animals. We believe that adoption is not only right thing to do but THE thing to do!

*At this time, we do not accept court-ordered service hours nor track community service hours.
*Our organization does not currently have an established office location, however in March 2023 DPA opened up an Adoption Container.
