Lives Saved
A middle school and high school student who found early melanomas because of the essons they received.

The Melanoma Education Foundation is a non-profit public charity that provides life-saving services throughout the U.S. At last count our melanoma lessons were being used in over 1700 high schools and middle schools in all 50 states. The lessons educate students and teachers about early self-detection of melanoma, a skin cancer that is often fatal unless found at an early stage. Lives of students, teachers, and their family members have been saved because of the lessons. Watch our latest 3-minute video at < >.

Melanoma Warriors are volunteers who earn community service credit by confirming whether teachers in our database are still at their schools. We provide an Excel spreadsheet with school names, web addresses, teacher names, email addresses and detailed instructions for updating the information and entering it in an XL spreadsheet. Each spreadsheet has 60 high schools and/or middle schools.

No fundraising, selling, or phone calls are involved. The work can be done anytime during days, evenings, and weekends. We estimate volunteers will able to get the information for 60 schools in about 4 hours but, because we work on an honor system, we ask volunteers to keep track of their actual hours so we can verify them in community service confirmation letters.
