ORGANIZATION: St. Augustine Health Ministries

Food insecurity among the elderly is a growing challenge throughout our community. St. Augustine works to mitigate that challenge by providing a hot lunch Monday-Friday to homebound seniors who are unable to leave their homes due to illness, injury or disability. We are in need of a volunteer who is willing to make home visits to applicants requesting meal delivery to assess their qualifications for the program. Seniors applying for the meal program live in the South Broadway area, including Slavic Village and Newburgh Heights. These assessments are on an as-needed basis and hours and days are flexible based on your availabililty (averaging 10 hours per month).

Description

St. Augustine Health Ministries is a mission-driven, faith-based, not-for-profit organization affiliated with Catholic Charities and is dedicated to providing a continuum of health care and social services within our community. Within the Health Ministries, St. Augustine Health Campus cares for the chronically ill and aging through short-term rehab, assisted living, and long-term care. The St. Augustine Child Enrichment Center provides early education and child care for 80+ children, beginning at 6 weeks through preschool. Holy Family provides home health care, residential and community-based hospice services. Emerald Village Senior Living provides independent and assisted-living apartments located in the west suburbs for active seniors 55+.
