At St. Augustine Health Campus , the comfort, dignity and well-being of our residents are our priorities. We want all of our residents to feel special. Since the COVID-19 pandemic has caused more than two years of quarantines, cancelled events, stress and loneliness, though, our seniors could use some pampering and self-care. We are seeking volunteers to provide beautician and barber services to the residents of our skilled nursing facility. Services will be provided in the on-site salon. and will include setting, coloring and perming hair, providing haircuts and shaves, and nail care, depending on what the volunteer's license allows them to do. The hours are flexible - volunteers can make their own schedule, but consistency and keeping appointments is important. Volunteer Beauticians and Barbers must: - Feel comfortable working with senior and/or disabled residents - Provide proof of proper licensure to provide cosmetology and/or barber services - Be consistent and reliable with keeping appointments - Pass a background check, and if volunteering more than 10 hours a month, a TB test - Provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19

Imagine having a medical appointment, being confined to a wheelchair with limited function and the transport company drops you off and picks you up later. Add to that sight, hearing or cognition limitations and no family to go with you. Resident Escort Volunteers accompany our aging residents from the nursing home to their appointment and back. These volunteers are often the eyes, ears, hands and feet for the resident and make them feel safe and secure when away from their familiar surroundings. We are seeing an increase in the number of off-site medical appointments since COVID greatly limited in-person visits to doctors' offices, so are adding to our team of volunteers. Resident appointments are usually scheduled a few weeks to a month in advance. When we get a request for an escort, we reach out to a volunteer to see if you are available on that specific date and time. If so, you will meet resident here at St Augustine Health Campus, ride with them in the transport van and stay with them throughout their appointment. When you return, you will escort the resident back to their room and give any paperwork from the appointment to their nurse. Most appointments times are in the early part of the day. Length of appointments can vary. In following CDC guidelines for health care facilities volunteers are required to wear a mask. All volunteers must provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

SATURDAY, JULY 16, 2022 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Fun Family Festival at St. Augustine Health Campus St. Augustine Health Ministries is seeking volunteers to help our seniors have some summer fun. After more than two years of quarantine and cancelled events, we want to make this festival really special for the residents of our skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. This special day will include games, music, food, a dunk tank and fun in the great outdoors! Many volunteers are needed to make it all work. Volunteer opportunities include setting up, running games, serving food, assisting with transporting residents down to the festival, and more. We are especially looking for people to "adopt a resident" and be their buddy for the day. This includes helping them from their rooms to the festival (pushing their wheelchair), assisting them to play games, get their food, and just enjoy the day spending time together. A brief volunteer orientation will be held at 10:00am, before the festival begins at 11:00am. There are several other activities in the days leading up to the festival including a cookout, karaoke, a talent show, a magician and bingo under the tent. Volunteers are needed for these lively events too. If you would like to make this festival week truly special for our residents by volunteering at any of these events, contact Margaret Mullen at (216) 939-7601 or mmullen@st-aug.org for more information. All volunteers must show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID 19. Thank you and hope to see you there!

Attention Gardeners! The residents at St. Augustine Health Campus love their garden! They enjoy tending the plants, savoring the fresh vegetables and relaxing on a bench among the flowers on a sunny day. But they could use some help. We are looking for a volunteer or a small group of volunteers with gardening knowledge and experience to lead a group of able-bodied residents in preparing and maintaining the space. Volunteers will plan and manage the activities, guide the residents through the process and assist with tasks the residents are not able to accomplish on their own. If you have gardening skills that you are willing to share, please let us know! If you have questions, contact Margaret Mullen at (216) 939-7601 or mmullen@st-aug.org for more information. If you are ready to apply, our volunteer application can be found at Volunteers... Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things (staugministries.org)
