Help us make this a great day for 1,500+ persons

Join us for a fun, family-friendly 5K walk to support a serious cause. NAMIWalks Greater Mississippi Valley is scheduled for Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Modern Woodmen Park on the Davenport riverfront. Volunteers are needed for event logistics, entertainment, and registration prior to and during this event.

Event proceeds are used to provide free education and support programs for families living with a serious mental health condition. Registration, children’s activities, music and warm-up presentation begins at 8 a.m. Walk begins at 9:30 a.m. Dogs welcome! NAMI is dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with serious mental health conditions and their families, empowering them toward recovery.

Description

NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley is an affiliate of the largest grassroots mental health organization. NAMI does not provide treatment or counseling; rather the organization focuses on education, advocacy and support, filling an information gap for peers and families.The organization provides at no cost the following:

  • nationally-developed education and support programs delivered by trained volunteers who also have lived experiences with mental health conditions,
  • advocacy with local and state organizations, and
  • community education through outreach and speaking engagements.
NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley serves eastern Iowa and western Illinois, centered in the greater Quad Cities area.
