Looking for a unique and active way to give back to your community?
Oaknoll is looking for volunteers to cycle around the Iowa City community with our residents this coming summer.
To do this, we have 2 All-Ability Cycles which are bikes designed for virtually anyone to ride. These double-seater bikes allow for a 'driver' (you) and a 'passenger' (resident). Depending on the resident's mobility, they are welcome to pedal along with you or, they can rest their feet on a stand, while a motor assists. Either way, this experience presents a great way for our residents to get outside while enjoying the fresh air, scenery, and some physical fitness.
Those that have helped with this in the past report that it is 'as easy as riding a bike'. It's very simple, straightforward, and the smiles you will see on the resident's faces will make it all worthwhile!
If you have any questions or would like to see the bicycle before committing, please let Brianna Becker, Volunteer Coordinator know and we will make arrangements. Thanks for your consideration!
