Let's Make Everyone Count - 2018 El Paso County Point in Time Survey

ORGANIZATION: Pikes Peak United Way

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 3 people are interested

This year surveying will take place on January 29th, 2018, asking folks where they slept on the night of January 28th. We cannot accomplish the point in time survey without our trusting volunteers! The PIT count is intended to provide a snapshot of a community's homeless situation. It is one way to understand the extensiveness of homelessness in community. The count is an important effort that ensures the voices of people experiencing homelessness are being heard and efforts are being made to provide needed services. It also helps us as a community develop more effective plans and measure progress toward ending homelessness.

The survey shows the need for homeless services and housing, and it helps the community raise the money and other resources needed to provide services and housing opportunities to those in need.

Requirements:

  • Must attend a two hour training
  • Must be able to walk and/or stand for continuous periods of time
  • Must agree to sign confidentiality agreement
  • Must be able to attend at lease one two-hour block of surveying
  • Must be able to commit to showing up at survey site regardless of weather (most sites are outdoors)
  • Must feel comfortable speaking and interacting with people experiencing homelessness.

Do you think you can lend a helping hand toward tackling homelessness in our community?
Bring a friend, co-worker, or family!
