Help take care of therapy animals
22 people are interested
We are a non profit that uses horses and gentle farm animals in therapeutic programs for people in need including children with special needs, homeless families, children facing life-threatening illness, Veterans, senior citizens and inmates in the local county jail.
We have volunteers who help us take care of our animals every day. This includes barn chores such as cleaning animal stalls, scrubbing water buckets, etc. It also includes letting the animals out for play time and some light feeding. Our animals include 3 miniature horses, 2 goats, 2 sheep, 3 bunnies, 2 guinea pigs, 1 full size horse, 1 cat and 9 chickens.
Morning animal care takes 90 minutes to 2 hours and we ask our volunteers to start their shift sometime between 8am and 9:30am. We do require a weekly commitment for this volunteer opportunity. No previous farm animal experience required. We'll provide training.

Inspired by the comforting power of animals, Jasper Ridge Farm provides a special experience for people in need.
We are dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties who are facing physical and emotional challenges. Our goal is to bring unique experiences to these people through therapeutic interaction with gentle farm animals.
Our programs are offered free of charge to children facing life threatening illness, those living with special needs, and for children or adults facing challenging family situations such as homelessness, neglect, or domestic violence. We also have programs for Veterans, senior citizens, and for inmates.
Animals provide love and unconditional acceptance. Our group of support animals, many of whom have been rescued, have endless love and kindness to give and we believe interacting with them provides comfort for people in need.
