Annual Laguna Greeter Training Orientation

Do you love our community events? Want to spread the word about the Laguna Foundation’s work? Our greeter training is perfect for you! Attend the mandatory orientation to learn more and join our team.
Greeters connect with the community by providing event support at the Laguna Foundation’s classes and outings, as well as represent the Foundation at local events such as festivals and farmers markets.At each event, Laguna Greeters may be assigned to one or more of these tasks: setup and cleanup of tables and chairs; directing parking; greeting and checking-in guests; taking Gift Shop merchandise sales; setup and cleanup of snacks; representing the Laguna Foundation (tabling) at community events. Greeters help support the events, as well as have the opportunity to attend those events for free!
2020 Training schedule (~10 hour commitment):
- Mandatory orientation on Tuesday, March 24 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
- Attend Biology of the Laguna Presentation on Thursday, March 26 from 6:00pm - 8:30pm.
- Attend Greeter Training on Saturday, March 28 from 10:00am - 3:00pm. Lunch is provided.
Please note: The training course fee is $40; the mandatory orientation is free. Partial scholarships are available. Your $40 training fee covers two community education presentations, lunch on Saturday, a training binder, and name tag. Upon completion of the training course, a minimum commitment of 5 volunteer hours each month is requested. Laguna Greeters volunteer year-round, primarily on evenings and weekends. Greeters are part of the Laguna Education Programs Volunteer Team which includes fun opportunities for continuing education, special outings and social events with fellow education programs volunteers.

Mission Statement
The Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation works to restore and conserve the Laguna de Santa Rosa, and to inspire public appreciation for this Sonoma County Wetland of International Importance.
Description
For 25 years, the Laguna Foundation has been the voice for Sonoma County’s most spectacular land and water asset - The Laguna de Santa Rosa.
Working closely with our partners and collaborators on conservation, restoration and education programs, we focus our efforts to:
- Collaborate with landowners, government agencies, businesses and the agricultural community to improve water quality and groundwater resources for all.
- Protect threatened and endangered plants and animals by restoring habitat.
- Attract ground-breaking scientific research to the Laguna watershed.
- Bring together technical experts, land managers and policymakers to create effective climate adaptation strategies that preserve natural resources, biodiversity, and ecosystem services.
- Remove invasive species including water primrose, pepperweed, Harding grass and pennyroyal.
- Educate and inspire people of all ages to appreciate the Laguna through school programs, workshops, and volunteer opportunities.
