Position Summary
We’re looking for a special person to manage the JAARS gift shop.
Our merchandise assortment ranges from handmade crafts, clothing and jewelry-much of it from overseas-to books, cards, videos, and more. All are thoughtfully selected.
Position Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations, manage the merchandise and staff, including staff schedules and breaks
- Determine and/or approve merchandise for sale following JAARS branding guidelines
- Order merchandise, replenish inventories and supervise/conduct annual inventory counts
- Formulate merchandise pricing based on target audiences and JAARS pricing model
- Monitor sales, verify invoices and billing; resolve discrepancies; prepare, reconcile and record cash receipts for deposit
- Supervise and train staff in operations and customer service
- Explore and supervise retail sales growth via online sales; process web and mail orders
- Develop and manage annual goals and budget
- Develop and ensure appropriate internal and external promotion for unique merchandise
Position Requirements
- A deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes your personal spiritual growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth
- Embrace the vision, mission and core values of JAARS
- Degree in business and/or management experience desired
- Excellent customer service skills, servant leader mindset-expertise and aptitude balanced with humility and influence
- Knowledge of or aptitude for cash management principles and/or procedures
- Retail experience desired
- Experience with and understanding of core mission-driven audiences-Christian individuals and organizations seeking to live out obedience to Christ’s work and calling on earth
- Self-discipline, courage and creativity to apply limited human and financial resources by prayer to strategic challenges

JAARS is a multidisciplinary team of problem-solvers committed to the belief--and the vision--that people’s lives and communities are transformed as they experience God’s Word in their own language.
We are a community of full-time missionaries, dedicated volunteers, and a few employees who work together to accomplish the Great Commission goal of providing Scripture to every people group on earth in a language and form they clearly understand. We do that by supporting Bible translation and language development partners globally, and by working with prayer and financial partners in the United States to help make a range of unique on-the-field solutions possible.
