Increasing missionary longevity and preparing the next generation of Christian leaders. This results in better transitions, increased member retention and increased mobilization. This position establishes and oversees JAARS safety and security programs and provides strategic planning support to JAARS leadership. Target Staff Type Supported/Volunteer Work Location JAARS Waxhaw FTE 1.000 Position Summary Provide leadership and supervision for JAARS Sea Freight Shipping office in Waxhaw, North Carolina. This job provides a vital service for our worldwide operations. The Sea Freight Shipping department involves receiving, packing and crating goods for outbound sea freight shipments around the world, as well as receiving inbound sea freight shipments from various locations around the world and handling the shipment of goods to final destinations in the USA by land or air. Position Responsibilities Advise, communicate and collaborate with members, other JAARS departments, field offices, shipping agencies and trucking companies via phone, email, text and documents about shipping, including rates, process and other information Export Process vendor drop-shipments, repack and label goods, build and pack shipping crates, load sea cargo containers, using forklifts and man-power, securing cargo to prevent damage while container is in transit Use knowledge about dangerous goods regulations, recognizing dangerous goods and how to prepare and ship them by sea freight (training and certification will be provided by JAARS) Know about export regulation for vehicles (cars, trucks, motorbikes, boats, aircraft) Authorize vendor invoices for payment and compile expense summaries to allow accounting to bill members and field offices Import Communicate with clearing agencies to clear cargo from sea or airports through US Customs to our warehouse Offload cargo from containers, using forklifts and man-power and arrange trucking of cargo to owners Authorize vendor invoices for payment and compile expense summaries to allow accounting to bill members and field offices Position Requirements A deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes your personal spiritual growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth Embrace the vision, mission and core values of JAARS Basic management skills, with several years of experience in supervisory work Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills Basic carpentry/handyman skills and the ability to use table saw, panel saw, portable circular saw, chop saw, drill motors (cordless and air,) air nail and staple guns, common hand tools and drive forklifts (max. capacity 5,500 lbs., certification preferred or provided by JAARS) Practices a learning attitude and creative tolerance with differences while offering training and mentoring to those supervised or less skilled High School education or equivalent; prefer a minimum two-year post high school or technical school training End user computer skills using mainly Microsoft and Google applications

Position Responsibilities Prepare lessons for Friday night youth groups and teach those to the Middle School Leadership Team; also responsible for Child Safety approved chaperones for each night Direct special programs/events during the year, which may include the Middle School Campout (Fall) and Christmas Party (Dec); assist with Hands and Feet Week (Spring Break) Direct and lead the Middle School Worship Team Disciple/mentor the Middle School Leadership Team Spend time regularly face to face with students outside of normal youth programs; this would include having lunch with them at school, taking them out for coffee/ice cream and/or attending their extracurricular activities Be available for students and parents to set up appointments to talk about issues needing pastoral counseling and refer those who need clinical help to the JAARS counseling office Position Requirements A deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes your personal spiritual growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth Embrace the vision, mission and core values of JAARS An understanding of third-culture kids (TCKs) and their needs
