Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: NAMI Southwest Washington

  • 3 people are interested

We hold an Adult Expressive Arts group at NAMI SW WA. Our volunteer art therapist in training had to leave and we are looking for someone to lead the group. We would like someone with a certification in Art Therapy or an art therapy graduate student. This would be a great internship.

NAMI SW WA provides education, support, and advocacy for those with mental health challenges and the families who love them.

About NAMI Southwest Washington

Location:

2500 Main Street, Suite 120, Vancouver, WA 98660, US

Mission Statement

NAMI SW WA is dedicated to helping all people affected by mental illness through education, support, and advocacy. Our service area is Clark, Cowlitz, Skamania, and Wahkiakum counties in Washington State with offices in Vancouver and Longview. Throughout our mission, we provide mental health programs and groups that are not accessible elsewhere for individuals and families affected by mental health challenges through education, support, and advocacy.

Description

NAMI SW WA is a primarily volunteer organization that provides education, support, and advocacy for individuals who live with brain disorders, other mental health diagnoses, and for the people who love and care for them. In 2016, we served over 6000 people in Southwest Washington. These services include:

  • Support groups
  • Community conversation events
  • Peer-led classes for families and individuals
  • Anti-stigma campaigns
  • Judicial advocacy
  • Monthly newsletters
  • Law enforcement crisis and provider training
  • Information resources

All programs, services, and events are offered at no-cost to participants because the population we serve often lives at or below the poverty levels. Our programs for family members are unique services and we are considered to be the representative voice for families in our community that have a loved one with a mental disorder. We currently participate in a Walk for mental illness each year and do other smaller fundraisers to support our work in the community.
