Learn what it takes to judge at a Robotics tournament, we need both technical and non-technical judges to make Robotics tournaments a success. This fall, students in grades 4 to 12 will form Robotics teams. Kids in grades 4 - 8 will compete in the FIRST LEGO League Challenge "Submerged" and those in grades 7 - 12 will take on the FIRST Tech Challenge "Into the Deep".
In Minnesota these talented kids will compete at an event organized by High Tech Kids. Join us to be inspired by these students. Following volunteer training in late September through early November, spend a Saturday or Sunday of your choice in November through February judging teams at a Robotics Tournament. Kids will explain what they learned and built through these FIRST programs. Judges ask questions and provide encouragement to teams during judging sessions, then collaborate with other judges to determine award winners.
Join a Volunteer Training session either at our High Tech Kids office or via webinar based on your interest. See the shifts on this opportunity or our website (https://hightechkids.org/volunteer-overview/training-sessions/) for exact training dates and for more information about the volunteer roles. After attending training let us know your availability for the tournament season (November - February).
New volunteers will be paired with an experienced volunteer for their first assignment.
Please see our website to learn more about these programs and volunteer roles, then signup via our Volunteer Interest page, contact Barb at barb@hightechkids.org or visit http://hightechkids.org/volunteer for more information.

Mission Statement
High Tech Kids delivers fun, hands-on science, engineering and technology programs and events that inspire Minnesota kids in their formative years. We inspire kids to BUILD confidence, CREATE opportunities, and THRIVE in the 21st century.
Description
High Tech Kids is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that supports the Minnesota FIRST LEGO League Explore, FIRST LEGO League Challenge and Minnesota FIRST Tech Challenge each fall/winter. Through these programs we train, teach and empower student teams, coaches and volunteers.
With the help of more than 700 volunteers, we work hard to offer high energy, fun, team-based programs and competitions that celebrate science and technology. Kids learn how to work together, solve real-world problems and become leaders. To support High Tech Kids is to invest in our children, to share our passion, and to inspire these future innovators, leaders, collaborators, and problem solvers for the 21st century.
High Tech Kids now serves over 7,500 kids across Minnesota each year. Since our inception in 1999 we have helped over 67,000 students discover the fun in science and technology.
High Tech Kids’ programs, training, research workshops and competitions provide adult volunteers the opportunity to share their enthusiasm and expertise with young people in their community. These volunteers encourage kids to explore future STEM career possibilities.
