High Tech Kids works hard within Minnesota to develop an interest and ability in kids to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education and careers. Every year, over 900 volunteers reach children at an age when they make decisions (grades 3 - 9) that impact and enable these future citizen to be technologically literate.
There are three types of Judges that need to be staffed at every tournament: Design and Programming, Research project, and Teamwork.
Design Judges evaluate the design ideas and function of the team’s robot. Programming evaluates the organization, structure and strategy of the team’s written programs.
Research Project Judges assess the quality of the research project related to the theme of the season.
Teamwork Judges consider the teamwork skills and dynamics that teams have worked on.
The tournaments at this location will run on both Saturday and Sunday, 7:30am-5:30pm each day. You are welcome to indicate which day you prefer to volunteer on.

High Tech Kids is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that supports the Minnesota FIRST LEGO League Explore, FIRST LEGO League Challenge and Minnesota FIRST Tech Challenge each fall/winter. Through these programs we train, teach and empower student teams, coaches and volunteers.
With the help of more than 700 volunteers, we work hard to offer high energy, fun, team-based programs and competitions that celebrate science and technology. Kids learn how to work together, solve real-world problems and become leaders. To support High Tech Kids is to invest in our children, to share our passion, and to inspire these future innovators, leaders, collaborators, and problem solvers for the 21st century.
High Tech Kids now serves over 7,500 kids across Minnesota each year. Since our inception in 1999 we have helped over 67,000 students discover the fun in science and technology.
High Tech Kids’ programs, training, research workshops and competitions provide adult volunteers the opportunity to share their enthusiasm and expertise with young people in their community. These volunteers encourage kids to explore future STEM career possibilities.
