  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

The County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is looking for volunteers who would enjoy assisting with avian monitoring surveys on San Diego County Open Space Preserves. DPR is currently in the 4th year of a five year monitoring program. Volunteers would assist in performing surveys for burrowing owls near Ramona and San Diego cactus wrens near Lakeside. Surveys will start in the spring of 2018 and end in early summer. Survey efforts will include four monitoring days (early morning and dusk surveys) for the burrowing owls and four survey sessions (part days) for the San Diego cactus wrens. Volunteers will be trained prior to the start of the monitoring season. For more information or if you are interested in participating in this monitoring program, please contact Bethany Principe at Bethany.Principe@sdcounty.ca.gov or (858) 966-1321 for more information. We look forward to hearing from you!
