The City of Austin has been recycling Christmas trees for over thirty years.
The Parks and Recreation Department is once again working in partnership with Austin Resource Recovery and the Austin Community Court and hosting the 32 nd Annual Christmas Tree Recycling event at Zilker Park.
This year we shortened the days since Christmas will fall on Tuesday (see dates below), but we will still be accepting trees to turn into mulch over two weekends like in the past.
TIME: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Saturday, December 29, 2018
- Sunday, December 30, 2018
- Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019
- Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019
If you are interested in volunteering at the Christmas Tree Recycling event this year please email April Thedford at April.Thedford@austintexas.gov, indicating the day and time that will work best for you.
Volunteer shifts will be from 10am - 12pm or 12pm-2pm. We suggest that you dress according to the weather and bring a pair of work gloves if you have them available. This year, the age limit on volunteers is 18 and above.
