Program
: Dads Corps provides opportunities for active duty and veteran fathers to learn to thrive as parents, partners, and providers. More information about Dad’s Corps can be found at https://www.saysandiego.org/program/healthy-start-military-familyesource-center/dads-corps/

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Welcome guests and support incoming calls
  • Support preparation and logistics of evening events
  • Identify, organize and update resource binder for providers, resources, programs, etc.
  • Provide communication to clients/community on upcoming Dads Corps activities
  • Data entry logging survey data
  • Support outreach opportunities to further the reach of program
  • Support childcare by engaging with youth of varying ages by creating activities, art projects, crafts, tutoring, reading to children, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to demonstrate patience and flexibility
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in the use of social media
  • Organization and event planning skills welcome
  • Must have reliable transportation

Training or Support

  • Will receive support and guidance from Program Manager
  • Will receive instruction on social media platforms and online tools
  • Will be given an overview of military culture
  • Will be given an overview of the First 5 program (for ages 0-5)
  • Will work alongside of other MFRC staff

Volunteer Time Commitment

Length of service:
Ongoing (with a minimum commitment of 4 months), starting as soon as possible.

Looking for someone who is seeking 5 to 10 hours/week. Day(s) of week and time(s) volunteer is needed:

  • Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30pm to 8:00pm for classes for military fathers
  • Flexible hours during the work week, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
