Destination Imagination Appraisers
FUN for everyone!

We need appraisers for our Destination Imagination Tournament!

The Destination Imagination Challenge Program is a fun, hands-on system of learning that fosters students’ creativity, curiosity and courage through academic Challenges. Our Challenges blend STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education with the arts and social entrepreneurship.

A Destination Imagination tournament is the ultimate celebration of creativity and innovation, and is an opportunity for kids to connect with and support other creative thinkers who participate in the program.

At our Tournament, the solutions to Team Challenges and Instant Challenges are evaluated by friendly volunteers that we call Appraisers. They’re called ApPRAISErs because their job is to PRAISE the accomplishments of each team, and to AWARD as many points as possible. In Destination Imagination, the emphasis is on what each team produced, not on what they failed to produce.

Please join the fun and help support Creative Problem Solving!

Mission Statement

The mission of California Destination Imagination is to empower California students to be curious learners, courageous innovators, and inspirational leaders.

Description

Now more than ever, instilling the values of creativity, collaboration, and innovation in our world’s future leaders is vital: According to the World Economic Forum, sixty-five percent of children now entering primary school will hold jobs that currently don’t exist. How do we prepare the next generation of leaders to solve some of the most daunting challenges this world has ever faced while working in fields we haven’t even yet identified? By nurturing their unbridled creative spirit to inspire and equip students to achieve anything they can imagine in life.

Every year, Destination Imagination offers challenges for more than 150,00 students across the globe to solve together - without the assistance of adults. All the ideas, concepts, research and even mistakes are part of an enthralling creative journey to solve the challenge on their own terms. Along the way teams also learn valuable life skills such as problem solving, project management, team dynamics, and perseverance.

Destination Imagination is an after school program for students K-12. Teams are made up of 2-7 students and an adult team manager. We train the adult Team manager and provide resources to work with teams. Teams meet virtually once a week for 1 hour at the Team Managers convenience and perhaps a few weekend afternoon meetings right before the tournament. . The cost per child is approximately $125 through the Regional Tournament.
