VOLUNTEER TEAM LEADER: VTLs are responsible for recruiting a team of people who will volunteer alongside him/her for any given project. The projects might be pancake breakfast on Sunday mornings or refueling our Food Truck or handing out flyers for a fund-raiser. VTLs also delegate tasks to volunteers on the day of the project/event. They are strong individuals that can command respect and authority.

COMPUTER ROOM VOLUNTEERS: CRVs are needed to assist and support participants with resumes, housing and job searches as well as general computer, fax and telephone operations. This is extremely important for our corporate sponsors that want to see adult education as a focus

VOLUNTEER HOMEWORK TUTOR : VHTs must possess a passion for helping kids learn and have the knowledge and skills to help children find new ways to look at difficult skills and concepts. As a tutor, you must have patience, as many students that you work with may have trouble understanding the content that you are trying to help them with. You must also have a positive attitude and know ways to motivate students when they become frustrated by material that they do not understand.

WEEKEND ACTIVITY VOLUNTEERS: WAVS will do activities with kids such as arts and crafts, games, etc.

FRONT DESK VOLUNTEERS: FDVs will be greeting guests, signing them into the computer system, directing them to designated areas, assigning them chores and tasks, as well as assisting with incoming and outgoing phone calls and other office tasks.

VOLUNTEER MENTORS : We are looking for VMs who will assist each family and individual envision their goals, achieve their goals, encouraging them to see themselves in positive ways, and uplift them in times of discouragement. VMs should be understanding, yet stern in times of need. We require that all Volunteer Mentors be present at least once each week either in person at the shelter or via Virtual Volunteer. Virtual Volunteering provides each VM the ability to be able to follow up with each family or individual without being physically present at the shelter. This option requires that each VM has access to a computer with video chat options.

We are also looking for Volunteers who can host classes on budgeting, Life skills, Mock interviews, build resumes, Read or if you have any others ways you want to volunteer please share your ideas with us .
