The Sierra Club is the largest and oldest environmental group in the United States and has been essential to the founding of the National Parks, the enforcement of the NEPA, the Clean Water, and the Clean Air Acts. We've recently launched a number of local, Ready for 100 campaigns to push cities to commit to powering themselves by 100% renewable energy by 2050, and the Central Ohio Group has started our own right in Columbus, and we need you!
We're looking for a passionate, hard-working candidate to helm our grasstops committee and participate on the steering committee. Although prior experience in the area is not required, we strongly encourage those who have not worked in the field to familiarize themselves with organizing before starting and to take a continuous interest in acquiring new skills and knowledge for the duration of the campaign.
Responsibilities:
1. Work with national staff on the development of strategic campaign goals for Ready for 100
2. Ensure the local team has the resources and relationships it needs to pass a strong equity-based 100% commitment.
3. Build relationships with other local organizations
4. Work with the steering committee to develop the overall campaign goals and report back to the committee on progress being made on those goals

Mission Statement
Explore, Enjoy, and Protect the Planet
Description
Since 1892, the Sierra Club has been working to protect communities, wild places, and the planet itself. We are the oldest, largest, and most influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States.
The Ohio Chapter was established in 1968 and represents more than 125,000 members and supporters. The Chapter advocates for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and public transit. We proudly defend Ohio’s forests, state parks, and nature preserves. We preserve water resources by advocating for green infrastructure, factory farm regulation, and protections for Lake Erie and watersheds throughout the state. Finally, we promote Ohio’s transition to a 21st-century economy through the creation of good-paying, long-standing green jobs.
