We are looking for a volunteer to fill this crucial role of helping us maintain Sierra Club Ohio’s financial management systems. The primary role of Assistant Treasurer is to manage Sierra Club Ohio's donation receipts and other mailed correspondence, and to assist the Treasurer with affiliated Group communications, reports, and budget preparation. Responsibilities of this position include: Provide the Treasurer with data and information as requested and assist in preparing finance reports, the annual budget, and the year-end reports required by the National Sierra Club. Manage Sierra Club Ohio's post office box by receiving and appropriately distributing all mail coming into the post office box, including donations from the Ohio fundraising Appeals, checks from National Sierra Club, other receipts, invoices, and general correspondence. Distinguish between c4 donations to Sierra Club Ohio, c3 donations to the Sierra Club Foundation, membership renewal checks, Political Action Committee (PAC) donations, and activity participation fees, and maintain a system for donation checks to be sorted, logged, and distributed to the appropriate persons, Sierra Club departments, and Ohio bank accounts. Deposit c4 donations received through the Sierra Club Ohio's post office box into the Sierra Club Ohio checking account. Prepare a spreadsheet log with detailed information regarding all Sierra Club Ohio c4 donations, and send this information to the Bookkeeper for entry into QuickBooks finance records and Salesforce (Membership) donor records. Ensure that financial records and documentation are kept in accordance with Sierra Club records retention policies. Provide confidentiality and security for all demographic, bank account, and credit card information of donors. Maintain regular contact with affiliated entities in the Sierra Club Ohio region (Groups, ICOs, and PACs), and ensure that these entities provide the financial records and reports required by Sierra Club Ohio and the National Sierra Club. Assist with communicating changes in finance-related policies and procedures to state staff and volunteers as needed, and respond to routine inquiries from state staff and volunteers regarding financial matters. Follow proper internal controls and separation of duties between the Treasurer, the Assistant Treasurer, and the Bookkeeper. Provide other tasks as assigned and day-to-day support for Sierra Club Ohio as needed. Participate in Finance Committee meetings on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Sierra Club Ohio seeks social media volunteers to join our communication team to assist in keeping our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages updated with news, events, and photos related to our varied activities in Ohio No experience necessary! This position is open to anyone with a passion for keeping on top of local environmental issues and an interest in learning more about making the best use of social media. Responsibilities of this position include: Assist in the development of a social media plan in Ohio Crafting, designing, and scheduling posts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter Staying up to date on news and events relating to Sierra Club issues in Ohio Maintaining regular content Creating weekly blog ideas and writing compelling posts Taking pictures and creating graphics Pulling and compiling analytics on social media to determine best practices and testing new strategies Attend regular meetings about content and collaboration with the communications team Promoting original blog posts to other platforms and outlets Helping to compile internal resources, e.g. best practices for Facebook posts, guidance for Chapter blog posts, etc. Other tasks as assigned and day-to-day support for the communications team Knowledge and skills: Follows emerging web, technology, and social media trends Strong written and oral communication skills Can write in a manner that is accurate, witty, and compelling Independent self-starter Team player Willingness to learn and develop new skills Knowledge and background with environmental and social justice issues is a plus, but not required Excited to help protect our environment and promote social justice by creating a digital buzz Our goal is to have a couple of volunteers who can share this responsibility as we work on expanding our use of social media platforms. The secretary will have the overall responsibility of maintaining the non-financial records of Sierra Club Ohio. We are looking for a volunteer to fill this exciting role of supporting Sierra Club Ohio (https://www.sierraclub.org/ohio). As the Secretary, join our team to assist with general day to day record keeping and serving the quasi-legal role of advising Sierra Club Ohio on its formal responsibilities to the Club and to the membership, and help to assure those responsibilities are carried out. Responsibilities of this position include: Recording the minutes from Sierra Club Ohio Steering Committee (https://www.sierraclub.org/ohio/executive-committee-page) (biweekly meetings on Tuesdays from 5:00-6:30 PM in an accurate, understandable manner, reflecting the essence of discussion. Tracking motions and results of votes in meetings. The wording of complex and/or critical motions should be read back to those present before the vote to assure they are recorded correctly and reflect the intent of the maker of the motion. Additional duties may be added as the volunteer grows in this role. Other tasks as assigned and day-to-day support for Sierra Club Ohio.
