Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Home of the Sparrow, Inc

Your time is one of the most valuable gifts you can give this holiday season! Volunteer at Community Threads resale store to generate funds that go to directly impacting your local community. Community Threads is a 100% nonprofit resale store that uses gently loved merchandise to create grants for children's educational scholarships, poverty relief programs in the inner city of Chicago and leadership training programs.

Whether you are looking to be a one-time volunteer or serve on a weekly/bi-monthly basis, Community Threads is grateful to have your help.

Volunteer shifts typically run from 10-1pm, 1-4pm, 4-7pm and 7-9pm on weekdays. Opportunities are also available on Saturdays from 10-1pm, 1-4pm and 4-7pm. Friends and family are welcome to serve with you!

Mission Statement

Home of the Sparrow provides Hope, Opportunity and Support to empower women and children as they journey from homelessness to self-sufficiency.

Description

Volunteers are the backbone of Home of the Sparrow. Each time you volunteer, you become part of a woman’s story as she journeys to self-sufficiency!

Home of the Sparrow provides Transitional Shelter, as well as Affordable Housing and Rapid Re-Housing for women and children. Our Supportive Services address the core issues of homelessness.

We invite you to volunteer and shop at our Sparrow's Nest and Community Tread Thrift Stores. Stores are located in Woodstock, McHenry, Cary, Palatine, Mundelein, Third Lake, and Arlington Heights.
