Help make a change in the lives of homeless women and children by supporting Home of the Sparrow's Sparrow's Nest Thrift Stores. Volunteers are essential in supporting our programs and services. Sparrow's Nest Volunteers provide assistance throughout all areas of the store. Primary duties and qualifications include but are not limited to: Accepting, sorting, cleaning, pricing, and displaying donated merchandise Positions in specialized areas such as cashiering, floral arrangement, window dressing, and store design Ability to commit to a minimum of 3-4 hours weekly All Sparrow's Nest Thrift Store locations include: Cary, McHenry, Mundelein, Palatine, Third Lake, Woodstock and Community Threads in Arlington Heights. Shifts available Monday-Saturday, 10:00AM - 5:00PM. The Home of the Sparrow Events Committee is currently seeking energetic, dedicated individuals to assist with planning and execution of all of our annual fundraisers. Ideal candidates will be available for monthly/bimonthly meetings, would be comfortable seeking donors and participants for our amazing events, and enjoy sharing ideas in a team setting. Home of the Sparrow has 3 events each year: Annual Signature Gala, Celebration of Women Luncheon and Annual Charity Golf Outing. If you are interested in making a difference, and having a lot of fun, please consider joining our committee. General Event Committee Needs: Collect items for Silent Auction and Raffle Baskets Solicit sponsorships from local businesses Collaborate with Development staff on theme ideas, event activities, etc. Lead day of event activities: supporting volunteers, helping with registration, putting together raffle baskets, etc. Spread the word about the event and Home of the Sparrow!

Giving back to the community through court ordered community service can be a positive thing! Those completing hours for courts or police departments are able to serve at Home of the Sparrow's Community Threads and Sparrow's Nest Thrifts Stores. Flexible hours M-F 10am-5pm, Saturdays 10am-5pm. Our stores are located in McHenry, Woodstock, Cary, Palatine, Mundelein, Third Lake, and Arlington Heights. Note: We are unable to provide service hours for offenses involving theft, domestic abuse or violence.
