Volunteer Purpose and Impact

Volunteer will allow for refugees to stay employed, stay safe, and attend their appointments. Clients need reliable transportation, and occasionally need support beyond the capabilities of public transportation. This volunteer role will assist client(s) in reaching and maintaining self-sufficiency.

Responsibilities and Key Deliverables

· Volunteer will drive refugee(s) to and/or from work and/or various appointments.

· Volunteer will be on-call, with possibly little notice.

Qualifications

Volunteer must have a clean driving record, their own vehicle, a driver’s license, and vehicle insurance. Volunteer must have an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card. Volunteer must be reliable and have strong communication skills; the client will depend on transportation to maintain employment. Client will likely communicate by text, so a cell phone with text message capabilities is a must.

Working Conditions

Volunteer will use their own vehicle or an agency vehicle to transport refugee client(s) to/from home, work, and/or appointments in cases when other transportation is not available or safe.

Clearances Required & Training

Volunteer will attend a Volunteer Orientation. LSS-SW will provide all details, brief the client, provide the phone number for a work supervisor and coach the client about how to communicate his or her work schedule each week when it is assigned (probably by text).
