ORGANIZATION: Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County

VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Administrative Support Volunteer is responsible for supporting the Chief Development Officer by assisting with the organization and preparation of detailed information and documents.

  • Document development and review
  • Other clerical duties

REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Suite
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Organized

HOURS

Friday mornings for 2 hours. Must be willing to commit to a minimum of 2 months.

TRAINING AND SUPERVISION

Training and supervision will be provided by Gloria Crockett, the Chief Development Officer.

HOW THIS ROLE IS TIED TO OUR MISSION

Second Harvest Food Bank relies on the generosity of individuals, corporations, and foundations to fund its day-to-day operations and programs that aim to end hunger in Orange County. In this role, a volunteer will help the Chief Development Officer to stay organized and prepared, allowing for greater focus on fundraising strategies and department management. Additional revenue will allow us to expand our programs and enable us to reach the nearly 350,000 people in our community who may not know where their next meal will come from.

Description

Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County is providing food assistance and helping our community weather the COVID-19 variants. While the economy improves for many, there are nearly 350,000 individuals each month who continue to rely on Second Harvest for food. We must keep the momentum going to ensure all are well fed in Orange County. Above all, we are committed to nourishing everyone in our community who needs help.

Second Harvest distributes donated and purchased foods through a network of over 250 partner agencies throughout the county and every dollar donated to provides food for at least three meals.
