Foster Bio Writer

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Dallas Pets Alive!

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To create unique bios of adoptable dogs as needed, based upon information provided in the Foster Profiles provided.

Salary/Pay Rate: Volunteer

Below is the profile template we ask our Foster families fill out. It includes details that will provide information to potential adopters about each animal. Bio writers will write the dog’s website bio based on this information.

Formula of how to write a bio:

    • Due to not always knowing a dogs personality, we don’t write in first person.
    • Preferred Format: 3 paragraphs, with 3-4 sentences each (check out http://dallaspetsalive.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/ to get an idea!)
    • Include name, age, breed, and gender
    • Try to highlight if the dog is good with dogs/cats/kids.
    • Include if they are housetrained and other important details
    • Also include cute tidbits that would make this animal stand apart from other dogs in our program. Creativity is key!
    • If there is something negative about this animal, please find a way to make it sound positive.
      • Ex. Not housetrained, you can say currently working on becoming housetrained! Or not a fan of cats, would do best in a home without cats.
    • Please do not include minor behavioral issues in the bio, i.e. digging in the yard, jumping on people, etc, as these are easy fixes for adopters.

About Dallas Pets Alive!

Location:

11700 Preston Rd, Suite 660 #263, Dallas, TX 75230, US

Mission Statement

At Dallas Pets Alive, our mission is to promote and provide the resources, education and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals. We take an innovative approach to animal rescue and believe in creating a paradigm shift in the way our community views animal rescue. Adoption is not only the right thing to do but THE thing to do. *OUR GOAL: To one day make all of North Texas No-Kill

Description

OUR APPROACH

Our organization is run mostly by volunteers, and all of our pets are housed by dedicated foster families throughout North Texas.

We rescue and help the healthy and treatable pets at greatest risk for euthanasia at our partner shelters. We also provide assistance and resources to pet owners having problems so significant that they need to surrender their pets to a shelter.

In our rescue program, we focus on:

  • Rescuing healthy and treatable pets at North Texas shelters at the greatest risk of being euthanized
  • Reducing owner surrender through our Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender (PASS) program
  • Opening kennel space by transporting pets to partners in the U.S. and Canada in need of adoptable animals
  • Challenging the way our community views rescue animals. We believe that adoption is not only right thing to do but THE thing to do!

Please visit our website for additional information: www.dallaspetsalive.org

*At this time, we do not accept court-ordered service hours nor track community service hours.

*Our organization does not currently have an established office location, however in March 2023 DPA opened up an Adoption Container.
