During these uncertain times, how can we help?

CUB’s coming to your community and we need your help. We’re building a volunteer team to educate your neighbors about big issues that impact utility bills-and to help people save money.
In 2016, the Future Energy Jobs Act was passed, giving Illinoisans the opportunity to take advantage of improved energy efficiency programs as well as new programs like community solar! We are looking for long-term volunteers who can help us continue our fight for cheaper and cleaner energy. This can include anything from reaching out to local elected officials and community organizations to organizing phone banks and letter-writing parties in your community. We can modify our program to meet your interests and needs.
Call (312)263-4282 and ask to speak to Matt about our current volunteer opportunities. Our main office is in Chicago, but we welcome volunteers anywhere in Illinois!

When the Illinois General Assembly created CUB in 1983, it gave the nonprofit, nonpartisan organization a clear mission: to represent the interests of residential utility customers across the state. The statute directs CUB to carry out that mission by intervening in ratemaking proceedings before the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC), in the courts and before other public bodies and by providing consumers with information and assistance regarding their utility companies. Since its inception in 1984, CUB has been doing just that--working for lower rates and better service from the state's investor-owned electric, gas and telephone companies. Over the last 3131 years, CUB has saved consumers more than $10 billion by blocking rate hikes and winning consumer refunds.
The Citizens Utility Board (CUB) is the premier consumer group in Illinois, with over 100,000 members statewide. Since its founding in 1983, CUB has helped save consumers more than $200 billion by promoting consumer-friendly policy and providing money-saving advice. CUB is a grassroots organization with one of the strongest outreach operations in the state. In 2014 alone, CUB participated in 500 events, largely focused on energy efficiency and helping people save on their utility bills. CUB’s success in recent years prompted the St. Louis Post-Dispatch to call CUB the "gold standard" of consumer groups nationwide.
We'll work with your schedule.
