Position/Job Title: Mental Health Supervisor
Department/Program: LifeWorks
Reports to: Program Manager
Time Commitment: 6-month minimum; 2-3 hours per week
Location: 1220 N. Highland Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90038

PROGRAM SUMMARY:

LifeWorks is the youth development and mentoring program of the Los Angeles LGBT Center. We offer one on one, peer, and group mentoring opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth ages 12-24. Our goal is to help LGBTQ youth to realize their goals and dreams with a safe space, positive and affirming role models, and workshops & activities that are fun and educational.

JOB SUMMARY:

LifeWorks mental health program sees LGBTQ youth, one-on-one, in groups and families. At LifeWorks we use the community-based therapy model, which allows therapist to see clients one-on-one as well as provide "curb side" therapy to the youth. We are seeking someone to start in December or January.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide supervision for mental health interns that are providing community-based therapy for LGBTQ youth and families;
2. Oversee interns that facilitate group discussion;
3. Oversee interns that facilitate group therapy;
4. Help maintain a safe space for the youth;
5. Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Responsible, respectful and dependable;
2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientation and genders in a multicultural setting;
3. Have some knowledge of LGBTQ youth;
4. Have the desire to work with LGBTQ youth;
5. Past youth work is a plus but not required.

TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT);
2. Must be certified to provide supervision.
3. Must pass a LiveScan background check
