ORGANIZATION: Grey Bears

Every winter we at Grey Bears love to thank and acknowledge all seniors give to our community by giving them dinner and a show at the Civic Auditorium downtown! The event is free and open to the public and we fill the auditorium with over 800 guests. We need volunteers on the following days to help us out:

Friday 12/1: 1pm -6pm

At the Civic Auditorium this is the first day we begin to transform the space from a blank canvas to a festive party! Come and join us as we set up chairs, tables and décor for the big dinner.

Saturday 12/2: 11am-3pm

Decorating continues as we add our finishing touches to the auditorium. We need volunteers to help build center pieces for the tables and make sure that the Civic Auditorium is looking its best for the seniors who look forward to this event all year.

Sunday 12/3 7am - 10am clean up crew, 10am - 2pm serving, 2pm - 4pm clean up:

Set up starts at 7am, where we will set up a welcome booth, beverage stations and start cutting desserts. We will also start organizing the kitchen to make it ready for the influx of food that is about to be assembled in it. Starting at 10am volunteer servers and those assembling plates will arrive for an orientation and then begin to work! Volunteers who want to help us leave the Civic as beautiful as we found it can join the clean up crew from 2pm - 4pm that day.

Description

We offer more than 20 ways to volunteer at Grey Bears. - Healthy Food program - quality control, assembling and delivering weekly brown bags - Glean Team - help us pick fruit and other produce for the program. - Thrift Store - sorting donations, prepping/pricing, merchandising and cashiering. - Books - shelve books, cashier, or evaluate and list books on Amazon.com - Computer/ Electronics - We need your tech skills to test and repair donated electronics, audio-video gear, appliances, and to run a register and assist shoppers to find the right component, or disassemble computers in our e-waste center. - Cooks - Help us prepare and serve healthy meals for seniors and volunteers. - Office/Administrative - Help us provide excellent customer service for, and tracking/surveying of Grey Bears program participants. - Facilities Maintenance - Projects abound at our 3-acre Chanticleer campus. Your carpentry, electrical and handyman experience are most appreciated. - Events and classes - we offer weekly and monthly classes, senior support groups and luncheon events that could use your help.
