Come help support Grey Bears with our food donations and kitchen! Quality Control: Monday-Wednesday: 7am-9am (first shift) 9:15am-11:30am (second shift) Volunteers sort through all of our donated food and set them up for our bagging days. Donation Sorters: Monday-Wednesday: 8:30-12pm We have volunteers that help us sort through donated food from grocery stores. Once sorted volunteers set up a "grocery store" for other volunteers to shop at 9am and 11am. Bread Sorters: Tuesday-Wednesday: 8:00-11am Thursday: 10am-12pm Volunteers help us sort through bread and create boxes of ten loaves to go into our brown bag program Volunteers help us after bagging to create more boxes for our Friday brown bag routes. Kitchen: Monday-Friday: 8am-1pm We have kitchen volunteers help with prep, meal serving, dish washing, and miscellaneous warehouse tasks. Our kitchen manager is a wonderful chef and teacher! This is a great opportunity for volunteers who want to share their cooking skills or learn how to create delicious and beautiful meals. Brown Bagging Volunteers: Thursday & Friday: 6am to 10 am Help us load up trucks with bread boxes and help out on the line. Healthy volunteers under the age of 65 are needed to help the Healthy Food Program: assembling bags of fresh produce for seniors on Thursday and Friday mornings between 7:30am and 9am. Amazing items, terrific values! Gain retail experience by volunteering as a cashier in the Grey Bears Thift Store! Open everyday from 10am to 3pm! Our volunteers sort through a treasure trove of donated items, including clothing, furniture, housewares, jewelry, plants and garden gifts, books, music, fabrics, medical equipment, games, puzzles, sporting goods, bikes, exercise equipment, and much more. They find treasures others might see as trash and help our thrift store here at Grey Bears thrive. Volunteers also provide customer service and ring up sales. All proceeds from our thrift store sales go to support the Brown Bag Program, providing healthy groceries to 4,200 seniors each week. Most volunteers commit to one shift a week. An average shift runs from 10:00am - 3:30pm. If you are social person with any background in retail the thrift store could be a great fit for you! We are looking for volunteers who are ready to connect with the community and operate a register in any of our 4 thrift store departments. We are currently looking for cashiers in our book, computer, housewares and furniture stores. If you are ready to build relationships with members of the community and have an eye for detail this position is for you! The scheduling for this opportunity is flexible so you can adjust it to fit your schedule. Come help support Grey Bears with food donations! Volunteer drivers drive one of our fleet vehicles to different grocery stores in the community and pick up the stores donations. The driver then delivers the donations to our agency. This job requires heavy lifting at some times so it may not be ideal for those with back or shoulder injuries.
