Role and Responsibilities

The Tiyya Foundation is seeking an intern to assist in ensuring that the program delivery and outcomes are in accordance with the mission and values of the organization. To communicate with our diverse clientele, we are in need of language skills in Spanish, Arabic and Farsi/Dari. The candidate will work closely with the Program Manager in coordinating several programs including summer youth activities and our diaper program, and Case Management. Specific tasks include:

• Email and phone correspondence with staff, volunteers, and clients

• Provide translation services in Spanish, Arabic, and/or Farsi/Dari

• Assist the Program Manager in the coordination of the Soccer Program and Art/Recreational events

• Serve on the planning committee of our annual Back to School Celebration which will take place August 5th. We give out school supplies to our youth and host different activities to get them excited to start the school year.

• Assist in event planning

• Provide administrative support related to intake process, client tracking, and referral for services

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university, or currently enrolled in degree-seeking program

• ESL Certification a plus

• Reliable vehicle and insurance

Preferred Skills

• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently

• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, working with diverse populations

• Anticipates challenges, develops and implements strategies for addressing them

• Bilingual Capacity: English/Arabic, English/Farsi, English/Spanish

• Previous ESL experience is a plus but not required
