Newton Rockdale Suicide Prevention Coalition logo

Newton-Rockdale Suicide Prevention Coalition meets monthly to discuss how we can help our communities in raising awareness about the alarming rate of suicide among teens and adults and be proactive in supporting individuals who might choose to consider suicide. The Coalition is made up of agencies and organizations who have a vested interest in the mental health and well being of the people they serve and citizens interested in seeing a Zero Suicide rate for their community. The Coalition meets third Thursday of the month from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. If you can't make the current meeting schedule but would like to be involved in helping to prevent suicide, there are opportunities to be involved at events and campaigns throughout the year. Mission Statement

Hands On Newton's Vision : Every Newton County citizen is able to participate in meaningful volunteer service according to each one’s talents and interests to build a better community. Hands On Newton's Mission : Hands On Newton engages and empowers people of all ages in volunteer service through partnerships with local organizations and visionaries.

Description

Hands On Newton (HON) was established in 2007 as a program of the Newton County Family Connection (NCFC) to foster volunteer service and civic engagement that address issues resulting from Newton County’s sudden and rapid population growth. Our choice to use the Hands On model ensures effective volunteer management.

HON has diversified and expanded Newton County’s volunteer workforce through one-time and ongoing service projects and service to other nonprofits. Volunteers participate individually, with their families, or with a group; HON actively collaborates with other community organizations and for-profits to create large-scale or long-term projects such as community gardens.
