ORGANIZATION: "I Have A Dream" Foundation of Boulder County

We are in search for a qualified individual to join our wonderful organization! Your role would be to tutor math and/or literacy to 2nd grade Dreamer Scholars at Alicia Sanchez International Elementary School in Lafayette on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. You would be working with a small group of 2-4 Dreamers at a time and plan your own lessons for the group.

Experience tutoring math and/or literacy is required.

Pay is $15-$25/hr DOE.

Great opportunity for retired teachers and individuals with extensive tutoring experience!

Tutor Commitment: Mondays and Tuesdays during the Fall and/or Spring semester, with possibility of continuation.

Time: Mondays and Tuesdays, 3pm-5pm

Responsibilities: Work with students in small groups on their math and/or literacy skills.

Ideal Tutor: Someone who has experience working with youth and is flexible, energetic, patient, and thrives in a hands-on environment that can be characterized as having a "buzz of productivity." Experience teaching or tutoring math and/or literacy, required. Understanding math and/or literacy assessments, preferred. Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred.

The "I Have A Dream" Foundation's mission statement: The mission of the "I Have A Dream" program is to motivate and empower children from low-income communities to reach their education and career goals by providing a long-term intervention program of mentoring, tutoring, and cultural enrichment.

Description

Since 1990, IHDF Boulder County has served more than 1,000 local youth, and currently has 12 active Dreamer Scholar Classes. The model, with its one-on-one attention and daily programming, has proven to narrow the opportunity gap. Dreamer Scholars graduate from high school, enroll in post-secondary programming, and complete their post-secondary education at much higher rates than their low-income peers.
