Bethesda Lutheran Services Trinity Center provides free after-school and summer programs, Monday through Friday, to youth (5-15 years old) in the Little Italy Neighborhood. Currently, our after-school Program runs Monday through Friday from 3-6 pm. The Trinity Center follows the Erie School District calendar, which means on Early Dismissal Days program will be 1-6 pm and on our-of-school days program will be 10 am-3 pm.

At the Trinity Center, we help with homework, play group games, do arts and crafts, have computer time, and provide a hot meal to youth daily. This is a quick description of what we do, but there is so much more!

We are currently in need of a great basketball coach who is willing to train our youth. Bethesda Trinity Center's basketball team, The Saintz, was created in the spring of 2017. Youth played a couple of games against the Sisters of St. Joseph's team. However, we would like to offer more opportunities to our basketball team. This has proven difficult when basketball coaches have not fully invested into our youth. We would love for the Trinity Center's Saintz to play against other teams in a league.

Please take the time to look at our Facebook page. We have an enclosed gym that was remodeled this past spring and great kids excited to play basketball!

If interested, please contact Cathryn Correll, VISTA Volunteer Coordinator, at ccorrell@bethesda1919.org. A meeting will be scheduled with Amy, Bethesda Trinity Center's Director, and Cathryn to talk about availability and the goals we would like to meet.

About Bethesda Lutheran Services Trinity Center

Location:

Mission Statement

Bethesda Lutheran Services' mission is to provide hope and healing to children and their families by providing free summer and after-school programs to youth ages 5-15 year old. Bethesda Trinity Center offers a safe place for children to learn, to establish new friendships, and to experience opportunities they may not have otherwise. Each child is given a hot meal before they return home.

Description

Bethesda Lutheran Services Trinity Center is one of the oldest community centers having originally been named the Holy Trinity Community Center. After-school programming was held at St. John's Lutheran Church, later moving its services into a little white house next door to the Holy Church, which was donated by the church. In 1996, Bethesda Children's Home merged with the Holy Trinity Community Center when funding was unavailable to continue the after-school program. This led to the creation of Bethesda Trinity Center, which is located on West 18th street in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Bethesda Trinity Center is funded by OCY (Office of Children and Youth), Erie County Drug and Alcohol Abuse, United Way, Erie Gives, and CDBG (Community Development Black Grant).

It is important to note that in July 2017, Bethesda Children's Home re-branded to successfully unite Bethesda Children's Home, Bethesda Leadership Center, and Bethesda Trinity Center through the name of Bethesda Lutheran Services.
