ORGANIZATION: The Trustees of Reservations

Opportunity Overview Hale Reservation and The Trustees are teaming up to host a day of trail discovery. The Hike is scheduled for Saturday, November 4th. Hike the entire 13 miles from Westwood, through Dover and Medfield on the Tri-Town Trail - or tackle one of the shorter sections. Each section will explore more than 2,500 acres and take hikers to exciting vistas, ponds and streams, and will highlight the unique trail network in our area. Logistics and shuttle services available. The Powisset Farm stand will be open, selling fresh veggies and other local products. On this day, we will be providing a delivery service should any hikers wish to purchase anything but doesn’t want to lug it while they continue their hike. Rest stops with food will be available along the way! Many different volunteer positions are available. Volunteer positions include:

Participant Check In Greet hikers at Sen Ki, check them in and collect $ from walk ins. Orient them to the hike, give them materials such as trail maps and answer any questions they may have about the hike, The Trustees, etc.

  • Sen Ki (Hale Reservation) - Shift 7:45-9am 1 person needed
  • Sen Ki (Hale Reservation) - Shift 10-11am 1 person needed

Participant Check In (1 person needed) Greet hikers at Rocky Woods and direct them to the bus which will take participants to Sen Ki (Hale Reservation), the start of the hike. There will also be stops at Powisset Farm and Powisset Lodge (Hale Reservation). Check people in as they board the bus and answer any questions they may have about the hike, The Trustees, etc.
  • Rocky Woods - Shift 9:30-11am 1 person needed

Participant Check in/Food Server Powisset Farm serves as a rest stop on the Tri Town hike. Greet and check off participants as they arrive, orient them to the farm and the food awaiting them. Serve food and clean up, as needed. Answer questions about the Trustees and membership, Powisset Farm, the Tri Town Hike, etc.
  • Powisset Farm - Shift 10-2pm 1-2 people needed
Greeter Greet participants as they arrive to the finish of the Tri Town Hike. Answer questions about the Trustees (and membership), Rocky Woods, the Tri Town Hike, etc.
  • Rocky Woods - Shift 12-4pm 1 person needed
Responsibilities * Communicate effectively with staff and other volunteers * Assist with set up and clean up * Help answer questions about The Trustees * Log volunteer hours
Qualifications * Have excellent communication skills * Friendly and outgoing personality * Have reliable transportation to the properties * Enjoy working with people
Time Commitment Saturday, November 4, 2017. Variable, depending on shift. Volunteers should plan on arriving at least 15 minutes before their scheduled shift.
