About

The Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation (ALCF) is one of the largest philanthropies (patient-founded, patient-focused, and patient-driven) devoted exclusively to eradicating Lung Cancer through research, early detection, education, and treatment. The Foundation’s goal is to work with a diverse group of physicians, organizations, industry partners, individuals, patients, survivors, and their families to identify solutions and make timely and meaningful change and turn lung cancer into a chronically managed disease by 2023. The ALCF was established on March 1, 2006 as a 501c(3) non-profit organization and has raised over $30 million for lung cancer research and related programs.

Research Intern

ALCF is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented intern to join our Research and Medical Affairs Team. The initial responsibilities will involve researcher database management.

This position offers exposure to the healthcare, oncology-focused non-profit industry and diverse opportunities in the fields of cancer research and business development. The ideal candidate thrives in a goal-based, fast-paced, entrepreneurial, yet collaborative and fun team environment. Attention to detail and consistent execution of projects are essential. Location

We are flexible. We will work with your schedule. Some of the volunteering work may be done remotely with communication via email and phone, while some aspects of the role will need to be done from our offices in San Carlos.

Duration

Minimum 10-15 hours per week required for the duration of the internship, at least a minimum of 3 to 4 months. Ideal candidates are available to work out of our San Carlos office 3-4 days/week (Monday through Friday).

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills, time management and analytical skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Responsive to manager’s feedback, ability to take direction and execute work independently with minimal oversight
  • Ability to balance deadlines and multiple assignments
  • Preference for working in a fast paced environment
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with internet-based research and intermediate-level experience with Microsoft Office and Google Applications
  • Strong basic working knowledge of in-office technologies (printer, copier, fax, etc)
  • Prior experience using and updating Salesforce a plus.

Description

We partner with patients and world-class academic and researchers collecting and analyzing data, images and tissue samples from hundreds of patients nationwide to help improve diagnosis, specialize and improve therapies and overcome treatment resistance.

Through a comprehensive suite of free services, we’ll deliver professional and personalized treatment navigation, molecular testing, clinical trial guidance, counseling and screening, and multi-disciplinary treatment team referrals.

Patients from all backgrounds and in all stages of their cancer journeys can rely on GO2Foundationdaily for free support resources, expert advice and access to the best care possible.
