Mission Statement

Two words tell our mission: INCREASE SURVIVAL. Our ultimate goal is to be the global leader fighting Lung Cancer and the largest source of non-profit funding dedicated to turning Lung Cancer into a manageable, chronic disease and ultimately, a curable disease. Our mission is personal. Arising from the experience of our founder, the Lung Cancer Foundation will always be patient focused, funded and driven. We believe that patients, individually and collectively, hold the key to our mission’s success. Our mission is urgent. We are in a hurry to increase the Lung Cancer patient survival rate, stagnant and inexcusably low (15.5%) for too long due to the stigma of Lung Cancer as a smoker’s disease. FACT: 80% of newly diagnosed patients either quit smoking decades ago or never smoked. Our mission to extend and enhance the lives of patients and families affected by Lung Cancer requires raising funds for research and awareness that Lung Cancer is the world’s number one cancer killer.

Description

The Lung Cancer Foundation (ALCF) is one of the largest patient-driven philanthropies nationwide devoted exclusively to eradicating Lung Cancer through research, awareness, education, early detection and treatment. The Foundation works with diverse partners (physicians, organizations, industry partners, thought leaders, survivors and their families) in taking actions NOW in the laboratory, in hospitals and in the public forum that lead to solutions for patients. Since its founding as a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization in CA in 2006, the ALCF has raised more than $10 million dollars for Lung Cancer research, patient services and awareness.
