The Opportunity: Having a website is essential for entrepreneurs to survive but also sustain a longer-term delivery or e-commerce-based model. However, many of them don’t have the budget, time or skills needed to design a simple website for their business. That’s where you come in! Our website design project is the perfect opportunity if you are looking to volunteer your time and talent to support small businesses and the innovators behind them.
- Are you a good fit? You have at least 3 years of professional experience in website design and familiarity with some popular platforms such as Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, Wordpress and GoDaddy.
- What will you be doing? Once approved as a volunteer, you will have access to our opportunity list with website design projects available. You will then connect one-on-one with an entrepreneur to scope out the project and deliverables, and ultimately assist them in creating or improving their website.
- What is the time commitment? Website design projects typically last between 30 and 45 days, depending on your availability. This includes some preparation and design time (flexible to your schedule) and interactions with the entrepreneur (via email, phone or video conferencing). This is a limited-scope opportunity with a clear deliverable and end date.
- Does Start Small Think Big provide resources to get started? We provide information about the entrepreneur and website needs, and, if available, a design brief from the entrepreneur with input on their brand colors, fonts, requested functionality and other relevant information about their business.

Description
We focus on partnering with BIPOC entrepreneurs, women, LGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs, immigrants, veterans, entrepreneurs with disabilities, low-income entrepreneurs, and formerly incarcerated entrepreneurs. We help identify entrepreneurs’ areas of need and provide them with free technical assistance across the finance, marketing and legal areas. We do this by connecting them with our community of corporate partners and skills-based volunteers - so small businesses have the network and resources they need to grow on their own terms.
