Mission Statement

The mission of Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford is to create a community of fully literate adults through student centered instruction that catalyzes career readiness and advancement.

Description

Since 1972, Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford has helped over 10,000 adults from across our region to improve their reading, writing, and English speaking skills. Each year, our 200 volunteer tutors work with nearly 900 adult students in small-group classes using a nationally-recognized curriculum.
