Do you speak both English and Spanish, and do you love history? Are you looking for a short term project where you can volunteer your services at any time of the day or night? If so, we have an oral history transcription project for you!
The Library’s W.D. Addison Heritage Room is seeking a volunteer to transcribe a recording pertaining to the history of Corona. While listening to a streaming audio oral history in Spanish, the volunteer will transcribe the recorded message into English.
The volunteer will need a computer to play the recording and a way to transcribe the recording into a Word document.* They will receive a link to the recording on the Internet Archive website. When complete, the transcribed interview will need to be e-mailed back to the Heritage Room Librarian at which point it will be made available for the public.
This is a great way to help your community stay connected to the past! Attention to detail and good typing skills are needed, as well as good Spanish and English writing and comprehension skills. Thank you for your consideration.
*If the volunteer does not have a computer, arrangements can be made with the Heritage Room Librarian to work on the project in the Heritage Room where computers, headphones, and MSWord are readily available.
