Inventory the entire local history collection including manuscript, image, books, pamphlets, artifacts, and map case materials. The process includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks: Filing and shelving of material as needed Scanning barcodes for books and pamphlets using the Koha Inventory Tool Creating Microsoft Excel spreadsheets Data entry into Google Forms Comparing information in databases and spreadsheets to identify missing, lost, or misidentified materials Requirements: Volunteer candidates must be at least 18 years old. Ability to lift 25 lbs., patience, attention to detail, basic computer skills, ability to work independently in a quiet environment, knowledge of Google Forms and Microsoft Excel is a plus

Creation of finding aids in Microsoft Word and Excel based on inventories created by staff and volunteers. Requires research to create narratives, scope notes, and donor information, as well as, cataloging the completed finding aids in Koha and adding the finding aids to the local history room’s webpage. Work will be completed under the supervision of local history staff. The process includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks: Researching collection topics which may include family history, business, and industry, etc. Writing a narrative about the collection topic for a finding aid Creating the finding aid using our template and the inventory completed by other staff and volunteers Creating PDFs, uploading the files to our website Creating records in Corona Heritage Online and Koha Shelving boxes Requirements: Volunteer candidates must be at least 18 years old. Ability to lift 25 lbs., patience, attention to detail, basic computer skills, ability to work independently in a quiet environment

Park Ambassadors serve as an additional set of eyes and ears in one of the City of Corona's 36 public parks. Park Ambassadors are asked to do the following: Visit your assigned park once a week or twice a month at minimum Look over the features of the park and use the park observation checklist Utilize the See, Click, Fix App to report issues in the park that need to be fixed Make an effort to be informative and answer park patron questions Attend scheduled meetins with the Park division of the department to go over progress and areas of concern Never confront or pursue persons involved in behavior that is illegal or suspicious

Research and create local history displays. The content of the eight display cases will rotate every six months. Volunteers will select artifacts, images, and information that engage visitors under the supervision of local history staff. The process includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks: Researching topics through our book, information files, newspaper, image, artifact, and manuscript collections Creating reproductions of images, text panels, and backdrops for display Identifying artifacts and original material for displays Cleaning display cases Setting up the displays and removing them every six months Housing, labeling, filing, and shelving material removed from the displays Requirements: Volunteer candidates must be at least 18 years old. Basic computer skills, research skills, experience in creating displays or exhibits a plus, knowledge of Photoshop a plus

Description: Organizing, processing, and rehousing paper materials, images, film, and audio tapes from the local history room’s manuscript collection under the supervision of local history staff. The process includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks: The creation or completion of an inventory in Microsoft Excel The removal of harmful material from the collection, including staples, paper clips, and rubber bands. Organizing alphabetically, chronologically, original order, etc. Placing material in folders Unfolding material Counting items in a manuscript folder Labeling folders based on our numbering system Labeling folders based on the information in the record which includes the number of items in the folder Boxing items Labeling boxes Shelving boxes Requirements: Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
