Volunteers are needed to help with general administrative and office work. Our classes and programs are offered both online and onsite. Administrative projects can be worked on remotely for volunteers not able to be onsite.
While some of our volunteers work with us several days a week, we ask for a minimum time commitment of one afternoon or evening per week for 2-3 hours. Responsibilities vary depending on the individual:
there are tasks that are completed by our admin team each day, such as answering phone calls, returning messages, replying to emails, maintaining office records, checking-in students, assisting teachers in preparing classroom material, posting on social media, updating website calendar, etc.
Other tasks, such as helping with newsletters, marketing projects, program development, member surveys, and community outreach initiatives, will be assigned based on individual interest. These optional tasks can be worked on as part of a volunteer's regular shift.
Together One New York is a non-profit organization whose volunteers are passionate about providing vital resources to immigrants, as well adult education programs for all members of the NYC community. In addition to language classes, resources include a citizenship program, TASC (high school equivalency) prep classes, and English conversation classes. With your help, we can expand our outreach and increase the number of immigrants served. Thank you for considering us!
