Agape Childcare Volunteer Opportunity

Agape Home is Lighthouse Mission Ministries' transitional home for women and children. The Agape Childcare Center is located across the street from Agape and is a volunteer-run program.

Why is childcare needed?

For a single mother transitioning out of homelessness, a couple hours of childcare enables her to attend vital appointments such as a job interview, counseling, or a parenting class.

Opportunities:

  • Regularly scheduled childcare volunteers (Example: every other Monday evening)
  • On-call childcare volunteers (Example: childcare for a family whose mother will be attending a job interview or counseling session on a specific date)

To get started, sign up for our monthly volunteer orientation through the following link:

Mission Statement

For the glory of God, Lighthouse Mission Ministries desires to minister to needy men, women, and children through the provision of compassionate resources and services in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Description

Offering a hand up, not a handout, to end the cycle of homelessness, Lighthouse Mission Ministries is a publicly supported, non-denominational Christian ministry that has been open 24 hours a day since 1923. It is Bellingham and Whatcom County's only "walk-in" crisis homeless shelter for men, women, and women with children. It does everything within its power to assess and address the underlying causes that lead to homelessness for its guests.

Lighthouse Mission Ministries operates 12 homeless shelters; 3 daily meals; a long-term recovery program; a medical and eye clinic; and gives away food, furniture, personal need items and clothing free of charge.
